About Me

I had no idea I’d get into web development, but here I am over 8 years later and still learning. I have now been at my current company, Hanson Inc, for over 5 years now, along with working as an intern for over two years prior to that. I have experience all over the development process from planning as a Functional Architect to the development as a Front-End Developer. I have worked on small teams of less than a dozen and on teams that span a 40+ person company. Just give me some Lofi focus music and a problem to solve and I’m good to go.

When I first started as a developer I was primarily doing website maintenance, which I think was a great way to start my career. I’d be tasked with making an update to a site that we had previously created and would have to dive in and figure it out with no prior exposure to it. This allowed me to get comfortable reading, breaking down, and editing other peoples’ code. Over the past few years though there has been a shift, maybe industry wide, away from building a site and then maintaining it to just building a site with a CMS and handing it off to the client to maintain themselves. This change has now exposed me more to the ground up development process and has been much more challenging due to the scope of projects. What once was a couple weeks on a maintenance update with a handful of team members is now a multiple month build process involving the whole company.

Outside of work I enjoy getting active, since sitting at a desk can be a bit stagnant, so I am working out, running, or playing basketball pretty much every day. I am also a casual photographer, as you can see my the photography portion of this site. Among other things, I like to hike, follow Cleveland sports, read, and play video games. Sometimes it can be tough to balance all my hobbies and the activities that I am interested in the time outside of work.
